”MOLDOVA”
In January 2002 I was in Moldova on an assignment for the Atlas Alliance. Moldova is one of Europe’s poorest countries and the humanitarian conditions are abysmal. It was formerly part of the Soviet Union and received independence in 1991. Civil disturbances have been a feature of life in Moldova. My assignment was to get a photographic view of the conditions for retarded children, both in institutions and in private care. The photographs resulted in an exhibition to raise funds for the TV appeal in 2002.
